Dr. Nabi Hasan is presently serving as Deputy Librarian in the IIT Delhi, India. Before joining the IIT Delhi, he was Deputy Librarian-cum-Library System Administrator and a regular Post Graduate Faculty at Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur (HP). He has also served at PCRA, Indian Oil, DESIDOC, etc. at Delhi.
Dr. Hasan has an experience of more than 17 years' of active library services and postgraduate teaching. He has published 2 Books, compiled 3 comprehensive bibliographies/Reports and has over 60 publications. He is on the Editorial Board of 8 reputed Journals of Library and Information Science and is also the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Library and Information Management. He has delivered 34 presentations as Resource Person/Invited Speaker and has organized 26 Seminars/Workshops/Trainings, etc. at National and International level. He is the active member of almost all the important professional societies of India including; SLA, ILA, IASLIC, IATLIS, SIS, AALDI, DLA, RRC, MLAI, MANLIBNET, etc.
Dr. Hasan was the first Borlaug Fellow (PDF) from India in Library Information Systems at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA in 2006 and was trained in Electronic Library Resources Management under Mary Ochs, Director, A.R. Mann Library, Cornell University. He was awarded Outstanding as a participant by the Cornell University. He is the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor Appreciation Award 2003 for Exemplary Work and Conduct and has also received Appreciation Certificate from the University for Extraordinary works and services in 2009 at H.P. Agriculture University, Palampur.
He has participated in several computer based and other training programs internationally and nationally which also include programs in USA and Malaysia. He has participated in large number of international and national conferences/seminars/workshops, etc. and also presented his papers and served expert on several occasions.
Dr. Hasan has successfully implemented 3 World Bank aided NATP/NAIP/ICAR Projects on Library Automation, Digitization, Institutional Repositories, Digital Library, Networking, etc. in the capacity as Executing Agency/Person/CCPI (PI). He has also successfully implemented RFID system in the IIT Delhi Library as one of Team Members.
Dr. Hasan has successfully implemented the ISO Standards - ISO 9001/2000-2008 in the University Library, H.P. Agriculture University, Palampur (HP). He was also responsible for making H.P. Agriculture University Library as one of the first best rated automated library among the State Agricultural University libraries (SAUs) and ICAR institutes/labs. He established the Digital Library and Institutional Repository at his previous institute. His efforts resulted in winning the library as BEST LIBRARY OF THE YEAR AWARD 2010 at the World Management Congress, India International Centre, New Delhi.
Besides, he has been involved in a number of additional activities like as Library System Administrator, LAN Facilitator, Web Content Manager, University Network Team Executive Member, Institute Website Committee Member, etc. He has served as Program Coordinator and Member of many committees of National and International level events and as Consultant/Advisor in the World Bank/NAIP Projects, Executive Member in the national level professional societies, etc. He has also been involved in a number of other activities of the institutes where he has served/serving, depicting his versatile personality.
Presently, he is associated with the eResources Training, CAS/SDI services, INDEST-AICTE Consortium, RFID system, Officer Incharge of Central Library Store and Purchase, Member of Institute Website Committee, etc. at IIT Delhi.
His area of interest includes RFID applications, eResources Training, eResources Consortia, Digital Library, Digitization, Institutional Repositories, eBooks, Cloud Computing applications in Libraries and Scientometric studies.
